About This Place

Welcome to Trattoria Belfiore, a charming slice of culinary heaven nestled in the heart of Bologna, Italy. Located at Via Marsala, 11, this family-run trattoria is a delightful escape for both tourists and locals alike. When you step inside, the warmth of the atmosphere and the cheerful bustle of the staff envelop you, hinting at a dining experience steeped in tradition and passion.

The cornerstone of Trattoria Belfiore’s menu is its dedication to authentic Bolognese cuisine. Diners rave about the exquisite tortellini in brodo, praised not only for its rich and savory broth but also for the pasta's delectable filling—a harmonious blend of cured meat and aromatic herbs. The suggestion to relish it in a particular way, offered by the attentive staff, adds a personal touch that enhances the meal.

Another highlight is the tagliolini with Bolognese sauce, which has become a signature dish. The sauce is noted for its depth of flavor, making each bite a comforting journey through Bologna's rich culinary heritage. If you are a fan of meat, don’t miss the perfectly cooked medium-rare filet, complemented by the unique Woronoff sauce—a bold choice that, while polarizing, adds an adventurous twist to your dining experience.

Vegetable sides, featuring delightful zucchini and spinach, provide a fresh balance to the hearty mains, ensuring your meal remains light yet satisfying. The thoughtful pairing of dishes speaks to the restaurant's commitment to excellence, as noted by satisfied guests like Teodora Atanasova, who left raving about the overall quality and flavor.

While some reviews have mentioned desserts such as tiramisu and panna cotta that might not rise to the high standards set by the savory courses, the warm atmosphere and generous hospitality more than compensate for any minor shortcomings in the sweet offerings. Long-time visitors like Kelly Kasper make a point to return, reinforcing the trattoria’s reputation as a must-visit dining destination in Italy.

Trattoria Belfiore isn't just a restaurant; it’s a gathering place where the rich tapestry of Bologna's culinary tradition comes to life. Whether you’re a local or a wandering traveler, your palate will undoubtedly thank you for this experience. Make a reservation or drop by to sample the heart and soul of Bolognese food. You won't be disappointed.

The food was amazing and we all left very satisfied with the quality of the meal. I recommend visiting!

This restaurant was a great choice for dinner. The friendly staff recommended the tortellini soup and showed us how to eat it properly, which was a highlight. We also enjoyed the perfectly cooked medium-rare filet. The Woronoff sauce had a unique flavor that wasn't for me but might appeal to others. The vegetable sides, including zucchini and spinach, were a much-needed addition to our long trip. This family-run spot was a fantastic value, especially after a disappointing meal in Venice.

This place is a 3.5 rounded up due to the cheerful manager/owner bustling back and forth attending to almost 2 dozen tables practically by himself. We arrived as walk-ins after being turned down at 2 other restaurants due to not having reservations. We ordered the tagliolini with bolognese and the tortellini in broth. The bolognese was quite nice, while the broth of the tortellini was rich and savory; the tortellini filling tasted of cured meat and rosemary, not what I was expecting and I generally dislike rosemary. I believe they source their desserts elsewhere; most people ordered the tiramisu which was sliced from a larger rectangular standing cake, while our Panna Cotta was popped out of a plastic mold (with bits of plastic also winding up on the bottom of our dessert) while having an overly firm consistency.

Traditional trattoria in the heart of Bologna visited by tourists and locals alike. We thought the food was simple but excellent. We had the traditional ragu and tortellini in brood. You know what - the brodo was better than what we had in Sfoglia Rina where there is always a long queue.

Excellent food and service. We ate here two years ago and had to return when we were back in Italy. It did not disappoint.

Spectacular Trattoria bolognese! We had the tortellini in brodo, and the waiter explained us how to eat it in the antique way. Incredible!! Also, don’t miss the scallopine alla bolognese.

Excellent, autentic food and wine. The beef filet wornoff was really tender and moist. Desserts was also good. Great service and we felt welcome. Family driven restaurant. We highly recommend. Restroom facilities could be better.

Our favourite meal from our recent trip to Bologna. Kind owner who was patient with us and our limited Italian. The food was beautiful. We had the tortelloni in butter & sage and the pasta norcina. Pleasant location, just away from the centre.
